Mental Health Issues

This post has nothing to do with Singapore or Canada, but it's just something that's on my mind right now.

Sushant Singh Rajput's death has really brought to the forefront the lack of mental health awareness among the South Asian community. In discussing this with people around me, I've noticed so many misconceptions even among educated people, and I've even caught a few of my own misconceptions.

It is sad, how taboo the entire topic is. When someone needs help and seeks it, people around them snigger and judge, making the situation all that much worse. There are people who need help but don't seek it because of the whole 'log kya kehenge' (what will people think) mentality.

This needs to change, and I know it won't happen overnight - but everyone plays a part in moulding a new type of thinking in our community. I'll do my part, and I hope you do too!
