Mental Health Issues

This post has nothing to do with Singapore or Canada, but it's just something that's on my mind right now. Sushant Singh Rajput's death has really brought to the forefront the lack of mental health awareness among the South Asian community. In discussing this with people around me, I've noticed so many misconceptions even among educated people, and I've even caught a few of my own misconceptions. It is sad, how taboo the entire topic is. When someone needs help and seeks it, people around them snigger and judge, making the situation all that much worse. There are people who need help but don't seek it because of the whole 'log kya kehenge' (what will people think) mentality. This needs to change, and I know it won't happen overnight - but everyone plays a part in moulding a new type of thinking in our community. I'll do my part, and I hope you do too!

Summer Days

Summer is here! Kind of at least, I mean the nights are still cold... but that's Canada for you. I just want to dedicate this post to the beauty of summer in Canada - it is unmatched. Every summer, I fall in love with Canada again. And as much as I absolutely, absolutely, absolutely hate winter, every time summer comes around, I kind of forget winter for a bit. What I mean by that is that I actually forget that hateful feeling in my heart towards winter, like I can't really remember it for a bit. Summer this time is a little different for everyone, what with social distancing measures and all. But for me, this summer is very different because for the first time since I moved here and started, I'm not spending summer doing summer camps! And that's made summer that much sweeter for me - even with social distancing, it is the first summer I will be able to spend relatively stress-free. So looking forward to it!
