Circuit Breaker

For the uninitiated, that's the term being used in Singapore right now for social distancing and lockdown measures due to Covid-19 still being so rampant. Circuit breaker measures just started last Tuesday in Singapore, and I'm already hearing a lot of mixed opinions from friends and family back in Singapore. Being in Canada and being stuck at home for week 5 now, I am finding a lot of the complaints quite... lame (for lack of a better word).

Singapore is a small city-state, and my opinion in all of this is that the government did try its very best to have the residents of Singapore continue as normal a life as possible despite the global pandemic. People who are currently complaining that Singapore didn't take stricter measures soon enough, are probably the same people who would've complained that Singapore is overreacting if the measures had been put into place 5 weeks ago. And people who are complaining that the measures are too strict... put yourselves in the shoes of people in almost every other part of the world who have been stuck at home for at least a month or more at this point.

All I can say is that at this point, everyone should just trust their respective governments and do as they say. Don't rebel unnecessarily and don't be so negative about everything. It's been a difficult time for everyone, world leaders included. Just be kinder, smarter and more positive about everything... and this too shall pass.
